106.1 The Sound wants to know... What is your favorite Christmas/Holiday tune? We know there are…
Phil Collins is 106.1 The Sound.
This Sound artist made his film debut as a child actor in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. He was also in the audience in The Beatles movie A Hard Day’s Night.
Despite his foundation as an actor in his youth, Collins steadfastly pursued his ambitions as a musician. His first band, Flaming Youth, is the result of his time performing as John Walker’s backing band. He also played percussion for George Harrison’s song “Art of Dying,” but his contribution was ultimately omitted from the release version. Later Harrison would prank Collins with a gag master tape, which Collins took eventually in good humor.
At Live Aid in 1986, he played England’s Wembley Stadium, then jumped on The Concord and performed with both Eric Clapton and Led Zeppelin in Philadelphia.
Collins is one of only three artists to have sold over 100 million records worldwide as part of a group or solo artist, coming in only after Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson. Less known facts about Collins are that he plays the bagpipes, can’t read music, and is deaf in his left ear.
Phil Collins is 106.1 The Sound.
