Reginald Dwight has a special talent. After he hears a melody – just once – he can duplicate it – note to note – from memory. At the age of 11, his skills on the piano earned him a scholarship from Britain’s Royal Academy of Music. Reginald changed his name while working as a staff musician in the late 60’s to honor Blues legends Elton Dean and Long John Baldry. He met his long time lyricist Bernie Taupin at a music publishing company in London. They were both answering the same newspaper ad! The two rarely work face to face with Reginald providing all the music. Influenced by Buddy Holly, he began donning horned rimmed glasses in concert which is his trademark today. Selling nearly 80 million records world-wide, Elton John IS 106.1 The Sound.
