Gladys Knight & The Pips are 106.1 The Sound
This Sound Artist got her first big break in 1952 on Ted Mack’s Original Amateur Hour – and won! Her first big hit would come in 1961 with “Every Beat Of My Heart”. She had the lead role in the 1976 film Pipe Dreams. The song “I Heard It Through The Grapevine” was made famous by Marvin Gaye but her version was the first hit. Her backing group The Pips is actually a family affair as her brother – Bubba Knight – and two of her cousins make up the backing group. She became a Mormon in 2002 and still performs at Latter Day Saints events. Gladys Knight is 106.1 The Sound.
