Van Morrison is 106.1 The Sound

Born in Belfast, his musical career spans such a variety of genres it’s difficult to label.  He wrote the song Gloria which became a hit for his group Them.  However, the Chicago-based band Shadows of Knight made it a Top 10 American hit.  He says his signature song – Brown Eyed Girl – is OK but says he’s written about 300 better songs.  His album Astral Weeks is 19th on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums.  He moved to Woodstock, New York in the late 60’s and his neighbor was Bob Dylan.  Farrah Fawcett was a huge fan!  When Farrah was dying of cancer, he taped a concert especially for her.  Because he went to America to be a solo artist, the British press blacklisted him.  Known to be especially brash in interviews, Van Morrison is 106.1 The Sound.
