Earth Wind and Fire ARE 106.1 The Sound
The group’s founder, Maurice White, was a percussionist influenced by the Memphis sound. He later became a session drummer at Chicago’s Legendary Chess Studios, recording with many artists including Chuck Berry and Muddy Waters. Known as the Father of Jazz Fusion, White moved to LA to form his record-setting ensemble while bringing the African instrument Kalimbo into mainstream music. Their music would dominate the late 70’s and break race barriers on the charts. Earth Wind and Fire ARE 106.1 The Sound.
