Happy Xmas (War Is Over) Is Part of The Christmas Sound

This Sound Christmas Song was recorded and released in 1971 but it would take a decade after John Lennon’s death to become a Christmas classic.  The line “The Road Is So Long” was re-interpreted in the album to be “The World is So Wrong”.  Covers of the record would use the latter line.  Jon Lennon and Yoko Ono wrote this song naked in their New York City hotel bed.  The whispered Christmas greeting at the start of the song are to Yoko’s daughter Kyoko and John’s son Julian.  The backing vocals and cheer come from The Harlem Children’s Choir.  Happy Xmas (War Is Over) is part of The Christmas Sound on 106.1 The Sound.
