The Spinners are 106.1 The Sound

This Sound Detroit group originally debuted on the Motown label with a cover of Steve Wonder’s It’s A Shame – a song backed by The Motown House Band, The Funk Brothers.  After Aretha Franklin asked them to join her Atlantic label, that’s when they enjoyed their biggest success.  A versatile group, all five of the members sing lead on Games People Play.  The backing band on I’ll Be around – MFSB – also wrote the Soul Train theme.  Their quirky song – Rubberband Man – is about a boy who makes incredible sounds with a Rubber Band placed between his toes.  For a band that peaked in the 70s, it’s remarkable they still tour today.  The Spinners are 106.1 The Sound.
