The original version of this Sound Christmas Classic was performed by Jimmy Boyd, who was just 13 years old when he recorded it. He went on to marry Yvonne Craig, who played TV’s Batgirl in the 60’s. Some radio stations banned the song in 1953 suggesting that a married woman kissing Santa might be too risqué. Artists adding the song to their repertoire include Jessica Simpson, The Ronettes and John Mellencamp.
