Bill Withers is 106.1 The Sound
He was a singer, songwriter and soul icon. He wrote classics like “Just The Two Of Us”, “Use me” and “Lovely Day”. Born poor in the West Virginia mining town of Slab Fork with a stutter in 1938, he joined the Navy at 18 and served for nearly a decade, overcoming his speech impediment along the way. Settling in California, he wrote songs while on break at an aircraft factory. It was “Ain’t No Sunshine” made him a huge star. Not fully satisfied with touring and the music business, he left the music world in 1985.
Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 2014 by Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers is 106.1 The Sound.
